HatsuharuxReader Black is Unfair

You were skipping down the street, excited about your plans for today. School was out for the week, and Hatsuharu had said he was free, so you were going to pay a surprise visit to his house. As you neared the gates, you got a little nervous. You were going to ask him to come to the aquarium with you. Everything was perfect. Except, not really. There was one small problem. You had a HUGE crush on him. You've liked him ever since you two were kids.

You were going to the same school, and it was recess. You were having fun in the sandbox, attempting to build a castle. You liked to pretend you were a princess, as your mother always addressed you as so and dressed you up in frilly dresses. You were too absorbed in your work to notice a shadow looming over you. You hummed a little song and smiled brightly with your eyes closed so you couldn't hear or see the approaching threat.

"What the heck is THIS!?" You stopped and opened your eyes to see a boy about your age towering over your sand castle and looking at it in disgust. He then looked at you.
"This sucks, why would you bother making this crap if you can't even DO IT right!?" He said, taking his foot and smashing it down onto the sandy dream. It was broken. Your dreams and your heart. You started to cry. Tears rapidly slid down your cheeks and you closed your mouth and sniffled, hoping you wouldn't slip and give him the satisfaction of your pain. He smirked down at you and reveled in your misery. He started kicking the crumpled castle onto you. It's remains coated your dress, your hair, your face, and just about anywhere else it could find itself clinging to. Just as you felt yourself losing the battle with holding down your emotions, another shadow came out of nowhere.

"Hey. Leave her alone." a boy's voice said, and you tried to see his face through your watery eyes. You quickly attempted to rub your eyes free of tears in order to see your savior. You only ended up rubbing the sand on your hands in your eyes and making them water even more. You heard bashing and crashing sounds. It sounded like skin against skin. You made it out to be the hero punching the bully. After about a minute, the noises ceased, and a hand found its way to your face.
"You've got sand in your eye now. C'mon, let's go wash this off." he said, and grabbed your hand, pulling you behind him to the nearby hose.
"Put your hands under here." he directed, positioning you correctly before turning the hose on. Once you felt the water pour onto your hands, you immediately starting cleansing them. A moment later, your hands were clean, so you dipped your head down and cupped your hands, splashing your eyes to get rid of the sand.
"Here, take this." Hatsuharu said, putting something soft into your hand. You recognized it as a towel by it's feel, and put it up to your face. He had run back to the school while you were flushing out your eyes and gotten you a towel. He arrived back just in time as you finished. He went over to the wheel that turns the hose on and off and pulled it in the right direction to make the water stop flowing.
"You don't talk much, do you?" he commented, as you wiped your face dry. You removed the towel from your face and looked down at the ground when you were done. Then you looked up at him, feeling tears fill your eyes once again.
"Eh? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" you ran into his chest and sobbed a bit.
"Thank you, thank you so much." you choked out and continued your blubbering. Hatsuharu froze for a moment, and then hesitantly wrapped his arms around you. He wasn't much taller than you, and you were the same age. You tried to think of his name. What was it... You thought you'd seen him before, but where... After a few moments, you pulled away and smiled happily up at him.
"Hey, you look familiar, now that I look at you close up." he said. You blushed.

"My name is ___. My last name is ___." you replied shyly.
"Ah, that's right! I recognize you from out kindergarten class! You're the shy girl always sitting in the corner. You don't have many friends, do you? Why were you playing alone?"
"I... Uh... I'm too shy to introduce myself to the others and ask them to play with me..." you admitted, embarrassed. He looked at you for a second. Then he looked down.
"Well, uh... I could be your friend if you'd like. I have a hard time controlling my anger, so I don't have many friends, either. But if you'd like, I could introduce you to them. That way, you won't be so alone." he said blushing, still looking down. You looked at him for a few moments. Then giggled suddenly. He looked up, embarrassed and shocked. He looked kind of outraged. And before he could throw a fit, you said,
"I would love that, thank you so much!" still giggling. His look softened, and he got a faint pink blush on his cheeks. He then turned around and closed his eyes, gripping your hand and dragging you back towards the school.
"C'mon, weirdo. Recess is over now. It's time to get back to class." he said, still blushing. You looked at the back of his head as he dragged you along, secretly smiling warmly.
"Ok..." you replied quietly. Over the next few days, you two became fast friends. You experienced his short temper and met his friends. You also introduced him to your own friends. One day, it was break time, so you walked over to Haru and his friends. You smiled brightly at them.

"Hello, fellas~!" you said cutely. They looked over at you.
"Hey, ___." Haru said, blushing a bit. He looked down some at the bottom of your dress, too shy to look into your eyes. His friends smirked and held back snickers. Haru glared at them. They pretended to loo innocent. Once his gaze was back to you, they looked at him again with mischievous looks on their faces.
"Hey, ___, you're pretty good friends with Haru now, eh?" friend 1 said.
"Oh, yeah, I guess so." you said, smiling and blushing, then looking down a bit.
"Then you should know his secret... Right~?" friend 2 inquired. They grinned deviously. Haru's head snapped to them, and he barred his teeth, sending death rays at them with his eyes. He wanted to choke them to shut them up.
"Um, no, does he have one?" you asked, suddenly surprised, and feeling disappointed that you didn't know everything about him. Before he could protest, the two friends held back Hatsuharu and covered his mouth.
"Mm-mph! Mm-mph!" he denied, muffled by his friend's hand. They held his arms back.
"Why of COURSE he does. He can't tell you EVERYTHING, now can he?" one friend said.
You frowned and scrunched your eyebrows together, making a pouty face.
"Well how come I didn't know about it?" you said sadly.
"Maybe he just doesn't trust you enough." those words hit you like a ton of bricks. Your knees nearly buckled under the crushing pressure of those words, and your heavy heart. You felt yourself tear up. To prevent anyone from seeing those tears, you ran away.
"___!" your name came out muffled from Hatsuharu. He became enraged. He licked his friend's hand, and when the friend tried to remove it and wipe it off, he bit down on it hard.
"Ew, OW!!!" he jumped back. Haru thrashed around and once he got some room, he elbowed his other friend in the gut. Then he put the other one over his knee. To not waste any more time, he ran in the direction he saw you going in. He kept running until he spotted you at the bottom of the staircase. He slowed down to a walk and carefully went down each step, as to not frighten you. You were huddled up with your knees to your chest, not making a sound. you cried silently.
"___?" he asked cautiously. You gasped when you heard his voice. You quickly got up and wiped your eyes, then started to run again. He caught your wrist and held on tight. You tried to slip out of his grasp, pulling and tugging. It was no use. So you looked down.
"Hey, it's alright-" he smiled and began.
"It's not! Why can't I know everything about you? Is it true? Is it true that you're keeping something from me?" you had shocked him speechless. You turned to look at him with tears running down your eyes.
"I care about you, don't you know?" you said, then gently pulled his hand off of your wrist and went over to hug him. He didn't respond. He just let you do it. That's when a poof of smoke came, and you backed off a bit, shielding your eyes from the smoke with your hands. You peeked through your hands after a few moments. You then let them drop to your sides. You lowered yourself to the ground and sat on your knees. Your eyes started watering.
"This... Is my family secret." he said, and looked down. You started giggling. He looked up at you, shocked and confused. You smiled and pet him on the head with tears of happiness running down your face.
"Oh, I knew about THIS already, silly. But hearing you admit it to me... It makes me so touched..." you said. He gawked at you.
"H-how-"
"You shouldn't talk in your sleep, silly boy~" you teased. He blushed immensely.
"I- I don't talk in my sleep!!!" he argued. you started to imitate him in his sleep.
"That stupid rat, it's all his fault~! Everyone makes fun of me for it~! Being the cow SUCKS! The other family members are so lucky that they get to transform into other ani-"
"Shut up!!! Someone will hear you!!!" he yelled. You looked down at him sadly.
"Why didn't you tell me from the beginning how you felt? I don't care what you are, I like you no matter what. You shouldn't feel bad about yourself at all. You're a great person, and I'd still like you no matter what you were. Plus... The cow is my favorite from the Chinese zodiac~." you admitted shly, blushing and wiggling. He blushed too. "Having an animal as a best friend is the coolest thing ever~!!!" you squealed. "Plus, you're just so huggable and cute~!!! I LOOOOVE cows~!!!" you said, reaching down and hugging him, rubbing your cheek against his gently and cuddling him.
"I like you."

You whipped out your cell phone and glanced at your wallpaper before quickly dialing his number and pressing call. Your phone wallpaper had a picture of you and Hatsuharu up in a tree making funny faces with your cheeks squished together. How did you get in said tree? Well, let's just say that some cats CAN'T climb trees so well, and some trip on wires and fall in mud more easily than others. Your heart was racing, and you were shaking. This was actually supposed to be a date, but he probably didn't feel the same way. Luckily, he picked up within the first few rings.
"Hello?" he sounded.
"Hey, sexy. Look outside." you said, just barely repressing all the nervousness and shakiness in your voice. You held the phone away from your ear and sighed out shakily. Then you breathed deeply back in and put it back to your ear quickly. Hatsuharu pulled back his curtain to see you standing outside the gate, smiling and waving frantically at him, using both of your full arms with your cellphone still in your hand. He chuckled and put the phone back to his ear.
"Are you crazy?" he said, still hints of laughter in his voice.
"Only when you're around, baby." you said, making a 'tsk' flirty clicking sound and laughing. He laughed then pulled his curtain back, starting to come outside. Soon, he was walking out the door.
"You wanna get nuts? LET'S GET NUTS!!!" he said into the phone, hanging it up and closing it, then running over to you, doing a flip over the gate and landing in front of you.
"Show off." you joked, patting his shoulder. You'd give anything to hug him right now, but you couldn't risk him transforming.
"Alrighty then, let's get down to business~" you said, doing the eyebrow thing. "You, me, aquarium. Now. How 'bout it, hot shot?" you joked. Fake flirting was about as rare of an occurrence as the sky being blue with you two. As was just joking alone. Though you wished it could be real for once... But today you were planning to confess to him. Like in one of those cheesy movies. Alone, in a pretty place, with the lighting of the water shining onto the walls...
"I'll take you up on that offer and raise you one cup of coffee." he said, holding his hand out and smirking.
"Make it one cup of coffee and a giant triple chocolate chip cookie, and you've got a deal, solider." you said, shaking his hand. Then you grabbed his hand and held it, starting to skip. He laughed and mimicked you. You skipped together hand in hand all the way to the aquarium, with people staring and old people shaking their heads and mumbling, 'Those dang whippersnappers' as they hobbled off to their layers, using their canes/beating machines to balance them. You made it to the aquarium quickly, and entered without a hitch, since it was free day. Unfortunately, your secret romantic plan backfired on you, as there were many people here.
"CURSES!!!" you said under your breath.
"What?" asked Hatsuharu.
"Hm?" you said looking at him, playing innocent. Then you looked off and spotted something interesting. "Haru, Haru, let's go there~!!!" you called, jumping up and down. All seriousness was lost, and the plan forgotten. You DID love aquariums, after all. You admired the beauty of fish and their simple life. Haru chuckled.
"Let's go, then!" he said, playing along. He was so nice. You were so glad he was able to be this way around you. When you looked at him around other people, he was so stiff and polite. The formal act just wasn't all of him. He was nice, but he could be super fun, too. You just had to get to know him. If he was seriously only like the way he acted around strangers, there would be no substance to him. He'd be boring and plain. But as a kid, he showed more emotion. You enjoyed the fire and passion in his eyes. Even if most of that came from his hatred of Yuki, at least he had more feeling and life to him. Though, he didn't hate yuki anymore. You had helped him through it. Even though he had talked to Yuki and felt a bit better, he told you that you were the main support in his life, and the reason he was able to move past all of that pointless anger.

You dragged him by the arm to the jellyfish exhibit.
"Oooooh~ They're all just so cute~!!!" you fawned over them. As you admired them, Haru admired you secretly. You didn't seem to notice, though.
"Yeah... So cute..." he agreed, mind completely off of the jellyfish. You turned to him suddenly and then smiled really cutely, making him blush some. He looked away and grabbed your hand. "C'mon, let's go check out the sharks." he said. He grabbed your hand gently and pulled you along carefully, so he wouldn't hurt you. You blushed at his gesture and looked down, grinning to yourself like a dork. Then you saw something big from the corner of your eye, and looked up to see a huge shark.
"Wow~!!! It's so scary~!!!" you said, admiring it and clinging onto Haru's jacket as it passed by. It was cool, but also terrifying. Hatsuharu blushed at the contact, but smiled down at you.
"It's ok, I'm here." he said. It seems like today was a blushing fest, since your face lit up once more. He hugged you to him, and you two walked over to where the whales were kept.
"Ahhh~ So beautiful..." you said, amazed. You walked slowly over to the glass and put your hand to it. The whale swam up to you and put it's nose to the glass. You smiled and almost felt like crying. "Such a kind hearted and sweet animal... A true gentle giant..." you mused. You pet the glass as if the whale could feel it, and you thought you saw the whale smile.
"Hey, I'm gonna go to the bathroom, I'll be back in a couple of minutes, ok?" Hatsuharu said, and walked off. You didn't hear him, though.
"Man, this blows! There aren't any cool things to see around here!" One obnoxious guy said.
"Yeah, we can't exactly pick up chicks here, either. It was YOUR stupid idea!" his friend yelled. They stood a little distance away from you and Haru.
"Hey, man. Check it out." guy 1 said, pointing to you.
"Dude, you're right. I guess there ARE cute chicks here. Well, this makes coming to this awful place almost worth it." guy 2 agreed. They started walking over to you. You were too focused on the whale to notice.
"You're so big, aren't you? But you're such a sweet baby." you chuckled as you talked to the whale.
"Hey, baby. I can show you something big too. And I'll be your baby all night long~" guy 1 said, grabbing your wrist and catching your attention. You were horrified you tried backing away.
"Hey, baby. Where ya goin'? C'mon, come party with us!" guy 2 said, coming up from behind you, and trapping you from behind. You were scared. Wait, why wasn't Haru doing anything!? Where was he!? You looked around, only to find that he wasn't there. You started tearing up.
"Leave me alone!" you yelled, thrashing around, trying to wiggle out of their grasps and get free.
"Now, now. Just be a good little girl, and come with us."
"No, no!!! SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, HELP ME!!!" you screamed and sobbed as they pulled and pushed you towards the back exit, which nobody else used. The whale swam over to the men's bathroom. The bathroom was attached to the whale exhibit wall, and the animals could be seen easily. The whale bashed up against the glass and startled Hatsuharu. Luckily, he had just finished, and was zipping up. He walked over and started washing his hands, looking at the whale.
"What's wrong?" he asked. The whale made some whimpering noises, and shook it's head in the direction of the door, which leads out to you. It then bashed it's head on the wall again, then did the same head gesture and finally swam towards you. Hatsuharu took this as a sign something was wrong with you, and quickly ran out of the bathroom, grabbing a paper towel before leaving. Drying his hands, he looked over to see the scene with you. All of the anger he's ever felt could never equal the amount of pure seething rage and hatred he was feeling right now. Flames and dark purple auras might as well have been shooting from him. Oh wait, they were. His eyes were darkened out, and his lips were set in a firm line. Underneath them were his teeth pressed together as hard as they could be. If he chose to grind them at that point, he'd undoubtably break some. He put one foot behind him, and got in a running position, with his head forward. He then charged and hit the guy with such brute force in the back that he lost all of his air and fell down backwards. Now all that was left was the guy infront of you.
"Hey man, what's your problem?" he asked.
"MY problem? MY PROBLEM!? You think you can mess with my chick and get away with it!?!?!? Your DEAD!!!" he yelled. You stepped back as he punched the guy hard in the gut, then when the guy covered his stomach, the jaw, which knocked him over. He was stomping over to the guy's body to do more damage, but you grabbed his hand and latched onto his arm. You cried into him. He looked down at you, angry to be interrupted. But then he saw you and your reaction, and lowered his foot that he was going to use on the man, and lowered his balled up fist. He put his hand on your head, and let you cry into his arm. The guys were scrambling away, scared out of their minds. Hatsuharu pulled you into his chest so you could cry more comfortably, and pulled you into his warm embrace. After you were done crying, you looked tired.
"Can we- can we still see the dolphins?" you quivered. You sniffed, and he nodded. You started to walk, but your knees were too shaky, and you nearly fell down. Haru caught you,and leaned down to pick you up in a bridal style. He took you over to the dolphin exhibit, which was outside. He picked out a good bench to see the dolphins working with the trainers. There were no shows going on right now, so there was no one around. You continued to sit in Haru's lap and shifted so that you were using his as more of a seat than a long sofa.
"Haru, thank you so much for what you did back there. If it wasn't for you, I would've been-" you choked a bit, and almost began to cry again at the terrible and traumatic event that had just gone down. Haru pulled your back into his chest, and you calmed down a bit. Sighing, you leaned into it. You sat in silence. There was no more shakiness. There was no more debating. There was just you and him. You knew that you loved him. There was no question about it. Now was the best time.
"Haru..." you said, turning to him. He looked at you with caring eyes. "Hatsuharu Sohma of the Sohma family. Cow of the Chinese Zodiac, and my best friend in the whole world. I have three words that I need to say to you, and have been longing to do so for a very long time. I love you." you said, and smiled at him. He just looked at you with those same caring eyes.
"You stole my line." he says, laughing a bit. "I love you, so much. You're the first person to ever care so much about me, and I'd follow you to the ends of the Earth, even if you hated me. I'd never leave you or hurt you. My only wish is for you to be happy. I love you, and I will protect you forever." he said, looking into your eyes for a response. You quickly grabbed his face and pressed your lips to his. You were tired of these swirling emotions of doubt, and now that you have confirmed that he feels the same way, all you want to do is show him just how much you love him. You kissed him with all the love and passion and care that you had built up over the years. Soon enough, he kissed you, too. The kiss was short and wonderful. Nothing could have displayed both of your emotions better. No words could describe how much you two truly loved each other. No amount of romance novelists could possibly even DREAM of catching this sight. Fireworks were still going off, once you two ended the kiss. You kept your foreheads pressed together. You both blushed and smiled.
"So, then~ do I get to call you my princess now?"
"Haru~"
